8th Light Needs a few good Craftsmen and Women

8th Light is a small group of Software Craftsmen who help companies get their projects done, done well, and done on time. Their emphasis is professionalism. Their motto is "The only way to go fast is to go well." Their track-record is outstanding.

I'm one of the craftsmen at 8th Light, and I'm proud to be counted among their member. If you would like to join me, and become part of a group of people who truly care about software; if you'd like to set your sights a bit higher than a career of producing legacy code; if you'd like your name counted among the best in the software industry; then we'd love to talk to you.

But beware. Joining 8th Light is not for everyone. The interview process is rough. The probation period rougher. And there are no guarantees. Whether you apply as an apprentice or a journeyman, know that only a few make it all the way through.

If you'd like to try, then send us your resume; but include with it your solution to the following challenge.

Write a simple Tic-Tac-Toe program in a language of your choice. At very least this program should:

  • Allow for a human player
  • Play against a human
  • Have some user interface, text is fine
  • Win whenever possible, and never lose
